Justice & Law

The Museum will present exhibitions which will focus on the enormous contributions to the Rule of Law by some of the most important and influential Jewish jurists in American history, such as Benjamin Cardozo, Louis Brandeis and Felix Frankfurter. There have been many more both in the bar and on the bench.

Major law firms founded by Jews are ubiquitous in our major cities and Jewish lawyers are ubiquitous in virtually all major law firms. Law faculties of our most prestigious law schools offer significant numbers of Jewish professors. Jewish judges may be found in courts everywhere and at every level.

The papers and letters of the most notable of these Jewish jurists will be collected. The viewer can read from their opinions and other writings on computers set up in viewing rooms. There will be talks by important professors of law, practicing lawyers and judges on the significance of the accomplishments of these jurists and their role in the development of the Rule of Law.
