Economics & Finance

The Museum will explore the historical imperatives that drove Jews into economics and finance.

It will recognize how the Rothschilds revolutionized the world of banking. It will take particular note of the role played by Jewish investment bankers in the financing of the American dream. The activities of firms such as Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Warburg, Dreyfus, and others, will thus be described and celebrated.

Recognition will be given to important American Jewish economists from Milton Friedman — the first Nobel Prizewinner in economics — to Alan Greenspan.

Jewish titans of industry will likewise be recognized. Among the many world-renowned entrepreneurs are Hank Greenberg of AIG, Carl Icahn, Billy Rose, the Pritzger family, and Mike Todd. In addition, one takes special note of Holocaust survivors who came out of the death camps to build empires, such as Frank Lowy, who created Westfield Malls; Fred Kort, who established the Imperial Toy Company; Jack Tramiel, who created Commodore Computers; and Sigi Ziering, who was the genius behind Diagnostics Products.
